Women’s Red Leather Jackets – Look Great, Feel Confident

Leather jackets were not always at the height of fashion.  In the past, leather jackets were commonly associated with durable outerwear or worn for other practical reasons.  Leather bomber jackets were typically worn by pilots to protect them from the extreme cold experienced in a cockpit at high altitudes and certainly not as fashion statements.  Leather jackets did not become standard women’s wear until relatively recently, being strictly a male dominated piece of outerwear.  If a woman wanted to wear a leather jacket, which was often frowned upon for the most part, there was no option of them popping down to the nearest clothing store or seamstress to get one made up.  Once upon a time, the only way that a woman could get her hands on a leather jacket would be to borrow (possibly permanently) one from a male acquaintance such as a boyfriend or get a hand-me-down from their father.

However, leather jackets are now all the rage, combining their durability with never ending style.  The leather can bring a rough, dangerous edge to a feminine outfit and can really add an extra bit of je ne sais quoi to an otherwise standard affair.  Most women’s leather jackets steer clear of your standard plain leather jacket and usually add many embellishments such as stencilling, embossing, and stylised pockets and zippers.  Some designers even combined extra accessories with the leather jacket to complement it, such as attaching a chunky belt or recommending certain pieces of jewellery to be worn with it for optimal effect.

Most women’s leather jackets have also ditched the standard brown “real” leather look by preferring to use dyes to colour their jackets in such a way as to make them not only more eye-catching but add that extra ‘oomph’ to an outfit.  Like any other article of clothing, leather jackets come in every shade and colour that you can possibly imagine, from baby blue all the way to shocking pink.  However, red leather jackets have possibly become the most popular colour that you see on the street, after your standard black leather “bikie” jackets often worn by the “goth” or “punk” crowd.

Red has become such a popular colour because not only does it stand out in a crowd of people, but it also manages to mix an element of danger with class.  Red has long been the colour of danger, spontaneity and passion and when incorporated into a leather jacket, it only serves to boost these associations.  Women who wear red leather jackets not only look amazing, but also ooze confidence – something that every person finds irresistibly attractive.
